April 2012's Special: Race car birthday party

If a boy loves cars and he doesn't know what kind of birthday party he should have,
this is on his list!     please follow these easy instructions below:

pit stop race

you will need:

medium & large card bord boxes

colored spray paint ( any color )

empty bottles ( with cap )

knife

papper plates

(Mommy is now typing)  Instructions:
Cut holes in cardboard boxes on the top and bottom.  Cut off extra flaps.   Then, if your child is 15 she or he may spray the cardboard boxes any color she/he wants.  If your child is little, let your child paint the boxes with washable paint but not spray paint.  You can spray paint and trace the paintings your child has painted on the box.
Now make the wheels.  In order to make the wheels, cut the holes in the middle of the paper plates.
Cut off the top third of the empty bottles.  Now glue the thirds of the bottles on the card board boxes that are going to be race cars.    But make sure to put them where the wheels are going to be.  When you're done doing that, you are going to learn how to put the wheels on and off for the pit stop.

1)  Learn how to change a tire.  Unscrew the bottle lid, remove paper plate tire, put new paper plate tire on and screw lid back on.  That is how you change a tire at the pit stop.
2)  Now you are going to learn to give the car gas.  Now, you put your hose to your car and pretend to give your car gas.  But don't turn the water on!
3)  Let your child practice these instructions so he or she knows what to do.
4)  Car wash:  Hang streamers on a clothes line.  Then drive your car through it but don't put water on it.  OR if your drying clothes you can make your kid drive through the clothes just like the streamers.

Make lots of signs but not too many.  Your signs can say "YIELD, STOP, STOP CHILDREN AT PLAY, EXIT 4, GAS NEXT EXIT"  Please make a road outside in your front yard or back yard.  Put the signs up wherever you are playing the game.

How to play:
Split the kids into two groups.  Take turns racing around the tracks and follow the signs.
Whoever gets the gas station first then the group they are in , they zoom in really fast, and have the grown ups fill in  the gas to the car as shown on #4.   You can do #1, 2, or 4 first.  After the person has run all the way around the tack and gone to all the pit stops, he or she drives the car really fast to the kids whose team they are on.  The person who is in the car jumps out and the next person in the line jumps into the car and it goes all over and over and over again until all the kids have gone.  Whose team gets all the steps done before the other team wins!

You can go to the store Michaels in Everett.  It has some supplies we needed for the party.  My brother, A-Dino, is going to love this!
